Balcony on the Jura is a studio on the 5th and top floor of 29 place du Jura in Gex — one of the high points of the town centre. What makes the address special is the useful elevation: from the balcony, you get a sweeping view over the place du Jura square and its Hotel Bellevue (the large yellow facade with a pointed roof, restaurant on the ground floor, a landmark of central Gex), and just behind it, the Jura mountain range filling the frame — the ridge that turns red at sunset and changes with the seasons.

The studio is compact, bright and sober in its decoration: accent wall in whitewashed wood panelling, light-toned laminate parquet, white / wood / teal palette, recessed LED spots. Double bed, equipped kitchenette, walk-in shower, balcony with two French windows on the Jura side — the essentials, well sized for a solo or couple’s stay right in the heart of Gex.

Layout

The studio is organised as a single volume with a sleeping corner, a dining corner and a balcony corner, plus a separate kitchenette and shower room.

Main room

• Double bed
• Whitewashed wood-panel accent wall running the full length behind the bed — brings character to the room
• Dining / desk corner: ideal for meals as a couple or a remote-work day
• Storage: integrated white cupboards on the kitchenette side for suitcases, coats and linen — comfortable even on a long stay

Balcony

The balcony runs along the entire west side and opens from the living area through two French windows — you can enjoy the view from anywhere in the studio. Metal railing, a clear view over place du Jura and the range beyond. On warm days, the French windows stay open from morning to evening.

The balcony — the property’s standout feature

It’s the signature of the place and the reason for its name. Five floors above the centre, you look down over place du Jura: street life visible but never intrusive, the Saturday market below, the Hotel Bellevue straight ahead, and behind it the Jura range with no interruption — ridge, forest, ever-changing skies. Full-frame sunset over the Faucille pass in late afternoon, clear stars at night. A view you’d find at 800 m elevation on a hiking trail — except here, you’re inside the studio.

Central Gex: everything within walking distance

The address at 29 place du Jura sits in the heart of Gex’s historic centre, walking distance from everything:

• Coaches to Bellegarde with connection to the TGV station (Paris, Lyon, Marseille, etc.)

Gex is the main town of the Pays de Gex: all administrations are on site.

Free street parking around the property, plus the Jura underground car park with direct access from the square — first 2 hours free, then very reasonable rates by the day or week — the option chosen by most guests arriving by car.

• Deposit: 300 euros (card pre-authorisation, released at the end of the stay if no incident)
